[Weird behaviour/bug?] Second Marriage quest reward item cant be cast in combat

*Update:
Finding the "haste" spell/spores that gives you 2 actions during a round, i found you can cast Connor in a fight.

The bug/limitation in the game has is that you cant carry your casting over 2 rounds of combat.

*OP:

I want to play a necromancer, spesifically focusing on thralls/summons/undead minions. So naturally getting my hands on my first zombie was a must. The more the marrier

Now Connor Vinderblad is no doubt a useful minion to have, as a distraction, a scout in place of familiar, and the fact that you can re-summon him after death/spell timer ends makes him very versatile. However: The part where "i need to remember to summon him right before battle commences" is awfully annoying, and makes for a less "fun" experience

I'm having this problem as well. Seems like the problem with the item is that it costs two actions to use, one to hold the wand and another to cast.

I figured out that you can use him as long as you throw a haste spell, as that will give you 2 actions during your turn.

I guess the limitation is that the game engine wont transfer your actions over two turns
