Advice for massive stutter?
Hiya all,

Got the game and trying all tricks in the book to make it playable. The stutter I get is so bad that even cinematic is unwatchable as it literally takes 5 mins to move from the initial midflayer picture to the floor. Even the beginning screen gets the stutter.

So far I have tried:
1. Assigned high priortiy in Details in my Task manager to the game.
2. Opening in full frame instead of borderless.
3. Using Vulcan instead of Direct11
4. Lowering graphics to absolute lowest (though I believe my graphics should not hae any problems to handle the normal settings).
5. Optimising everything I could in my laptop.

My DxDiag is below:
Operating System: Windows 11 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 22621) (22621.ni_release.220506-1250)
System Manufacturer: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.
System Model: ASUS TUF Dash F15 FX516PM_FX516PM
Processor: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11370H @ 3.30GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.3GHz
Memory: 16384MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 16076MB RAM
Page File: 10546MB used, 14744MB available
Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS
DirectX Version: DirectX 12
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
User DPI Setting: 120 DPI (125 percent)
System DPI Setting: 144 DPI (150 percent)
DWM DPI Scaling: UnKnown
Miracast: Available, with HDCP
Microsoft Graphics Hybrid: Supported
DirectX Database Version: 1.4.7

Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I can try?
(or if you need to, break the news to me that my laptop cannot handle this game at all)

EDIT: So it seems this is simply the matter of the patches messing the game file as you all mentioned it happening on your side recently. Thank you for your help guys, you are fantasic!
EDIT2: I have just run the gam again, lo and behold it works wonderfully. Thank you steam community!

I am wondering if the last patch broke something. The problem seems to be pretty widespread. I ran into it for the first time today.

Oh god this sounds fantastic, I was so gutted that it might be my laptop not being up to task.

That is not how you share a DxDiag report. :steamdeadpan:
Since it is missing information, try again, otherwise I will ignore this thread. Considering also what you did tried was exactly what you should not do - ESPECIALLY WITH WINDOWS 11. COME ON!

+1 for this problem

Game played absolutely fine before nvidia driver and the game updated. Now its a stuttering mess, especially any time any glow effects on the characters appear, e.g walking through mud or vines and also whenever i attack the game stutters.

It was running so well before the damn updates.

Yup, same problem on my gf’s laptop, since the last update the game is stuttering with a weird glow effect in characters.

It was running smoothly before the patch!

Ignore this thread then higher-than-thou being and foul our presence no more.

One thing I read in another forum was running the game from the .exe instead of through steam. It sorted a lot of stuttering for me. I have had a bit back since the patch but I find it runs much better right now outside steam, and you get to skip the launcher.

Sorry for the necro but did you ever figure this out? Having the exact same issue on my laptop. What's the weird part is that if I have the game open on an external monitor, it runs smooth as it should. But if I'm trying to use my laptops own screen, it stutters the same way as you described.
