My game kept crashing and I was trying all the fixes online and it didn't work. I installed the game on my D drive and noticed my save files were showing up on my C: when I went to steam->baulders gate-->right click-->Browse Local files. So I moved the files by going to Steam-->right click Baulders Gate-->Properties-->Installed Files-->Move install folder-->C: Drive.
It took 45 min or so to move it, but I just opened it and all my save files are there. I hope this helps, it was my first solo fix!
I'll wait for an answer from the devs. We really need some help out here!
Do not start it as administrator then and remove it from the launch options.

So? Including running the exe while Steam app is off?
The only way I can get it to work is by closing steam. Then I can shift and run as admin as before. It means I'm not logged into my profile etc, of course, so it's not ideal, but at least I can play the game.
I tried every other suggestion before that, btw.
That what you describe is a different problem than what the general workarounds address.
You need to go for the graphics cards control panel to fix it.
