Patch 8 and External BG3 Mod Manager
I am wondering if anyone has experienced the following and has any ideas what is going on and how to work around it:

1. After Patch 8 update game repeatedly deactivates all mods that are active in the external BG3 Mod Manager and the modsettings file that is shared by the external and internal mod manager. Even after the mods are activated in game through the internal manager, and the mod load order in the external manager is synced to the modsettings file again, upon relaunch of the game the same thing happens. (Not this does not always happen -- its mysteriously inconsistent.) Why is this happening and how do I stop it?

2. After Patch 8, the external BG3 mod manager shows ghost mods -- mods that were not loaded by me and have no actual files, but show up on the list: Gustav, Photomode, and HonourX. I assume these are files associated with Patch 8 changes. These "mods" did not show up in the mod manager under Patch 7, but I had read that "Gustav" was a game file that in prior builds was required to run mods. I have no idea what these are or if they need to be activated or not activated. They do not show up on the internal mod manager. Any ideas what these files are and what if anything to do with them?

Thanks for any guidance.

Did you manually update BG3 mod manager to 1.0.12.2?
The auto-update seems down atm, but this is needed to solve the "ghost mods" and such.

Thanks that helped but there are atill issues with the mods being deactivated even if they are working, but if a save crashes at launch the mods are deactivated but after you reactivate them it wotks

This is happening to me, but I'm a little lost on what to do after downloading the Github file. Do you have more precise steps?

Just unzip it[www.wikihow.com] and run the BG3 mod manager exe. Assuming you downloaded the file "BG3ModManager_Latest.zip"

I don't have this issue, are you running Script Extender with MCM? It will show a red overlay with a list of broken old mods that should be removed (patch 6 and older).
I was having this same issue and tried tons of different fixes like deleting and reinstalling the mods, verifying game files etc..
The thing that fixed it was launching from Steam rather than the mod manager. Still export and save from the BGMM but open steam to start playing.

I always launch from Steam. The old issue stopped and things were running fine but only with post Patch 8 saves. The old saves seem unrecoverable. But now there is a new problem that the in game mod manager does not indicate that my mods are downloaded and installed even though they are installed and working. When i run the save it seems to know they are there but the mod manager in the menu does not show them as active. Weird!
