Literally just bought the game and installed, no mods. First thing that pops up after hitting launch.

steam deck? we got around it eventually, i think we just reloaded the game a couple times. hit ok if you can.
I've been getting the exact same though I'm not on SteamDeck, I'm just on a Window 11 PC.
I did a clean install of the game when Patch 8 came out and came across the same error when I tried to launch the game the first time (using Windows 11/DX11).

All I did was close out the game and launcher, navigate to the Baldur's Gate 3 folder specified and added the folder manually. After relaunching the game again, I haven't come across the error. No issues with playing or loading saves or using mods.

I haven't found anywhere the cause of the issue. Some places mention a possible issue with Windows Security, but I didn't find any write or block errors in the security logs. Manually adding the folder didn't seem to be an issue either.

Oddly enough the game actually deleted the folder after the first relaunch but still doesn't give the error anymore either.

I just clicked ok since I don't plan to use mods for a while. Manual install seems to be a requirement for this issue,
I have the game on GOG and I had the same problem after reinstalling the game, do you know if this is a serious bug? I have never installed MODS, so I don't even know why I get this message.

I just clicked ok and played normally. I think it's only an issue if/when mods are added, which I don't plan to do for a while.
