Hotbar doesn't work? Bad design?
Greetings community. When I'm playing BG3 with a mouse & keyboard, I can't select any actions from the Hotbar? When I try to select something like Fire Bolt, or Fly, nothing happens. This problem happens on the Red tab, on the Common tab, the Sorcerer tab, every tab on the bottom of the Hotbar has this issue (except for the Custom tab, that one works differently than the others). I can only perform actions after I've selected one of the tabs on the top of the Hotbar, like the Action tab, or the Bonus Action tab, any of the Spell Slot tabs, etc. This can't possibly be how the Hotbar normally works right? Surely this is a bug? Am I doing something wrong? (PS: Bear in mind my Hotbar Lock is currently on. If I toggle off the lock, I am able to move actions around on the Hotbar, I can delete actions from the bar, but I still cannot select any of them.) (I will post a link to a video demonstrating this problem.) (Also apologies in advance for bad video quality, not sure what happened to the recording.)

I checked out your link and I have the same problem. I tried fixing with your instructions but I need more details, not a summary. Do you happen to remember all the steps?

The amount of stuttering in that video suggests extreme lag in command input and registering which is either a memory leak or hardware problem.

he said on the larian forums, the game runs smoothly despite the video appearance. it's the same exact problem i'm facing. you can't click on a skill or spell without first clicking on the action, bonus action, or spell tabs at the top of the toolbar.

Yes I shall copy/paste the details from my email messages with Larian Support back in mid February. Let me know if this resolves your issue:

The steps that finally got things to work properly were the following:

Turn off steam cloud saves for BG3.
Browse to the 'C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Larian Studios' folder and rename the 'Baldur's Gate 3' subfolder.
Start the game, start a new playthrough and check that you can save properly in a new game. If that works, exit and copy a couple saves from the renamed folder into the newly created profile's ..\Savegames\Story folder. If that helps in general, move the rest of the saves over.

After these steps, I deleted the old, renamed 'Baldur's Gate 3' subfolder. I've never installed any mods for BG3, so I know that wasn't part of the issue. What I find noteworthy is how the old subfolder was ~2.34gb in size, and the newly created subfolder, with all of my saves copied over, was ~1.9gb in size. There must have been some strange, corrupted files hidden somewhere causing this mess. It seems like that's a lot of potential junk data left behind (good riddance!).
