Cant patch BG3 anymore
althrought BG3 is installed at my internal SSD (NTFS) with 35gb free space left, Steam trys to store the latest patch at my external Harddrive (FAT32), which abort the download and causes an error message: "Data System not supported" (German: Dateisystem nicht unterstützt).

Got this problem also with Conan Exiles and Phantom Doctine, but never found a solution for it. Anyways, all BG3 patches before seems to be installed normaly, the problem appered with the latest one, so something must happend....

does anyone know the problem or a solution?

Problem is that you don't have enough free space and solution is to get more free space.

You need about 82 GB free space to install the patch. During patching Steam makes full copy of the game so as BG3 is currently about 82 GB, you need additional 82 GB free space for patching, for total of about 165 GB.

Also this is the first patch for BG3 - previous ones were not patches but hotfixes which seems to be installed differently.

I have a free space of around 110gb apart from the space which was occupied with the original installation of the game.... Yet, I could not download the patch, it just auto pauses the update and resumes later only to be auto paused a bit later

This is actually a Issue the developers have created due to how steam handles file updates.

GGG "Path of exile" spent years before they solved it, and they finaly did due to complains. 3.11.2

Keep telling them that 82gig backups is not ok for 100mb patches and maybe they will lisen.
It creates unessesary long pach times and wear on Hardware.

Edit:
For OP Herr Mainyu, Just uninstall and reinstall the game.
It's actually not any slower if your not on limited bandwith. As BG3 would back up the whole game anyway then vertify it. Your saves and setting is safe in another folder and will not be deleted if you uninstall the game.

thanks for the explaination.
Reinstall the full game is how i have handled the problem with Conan exiles. i have enought free space on other, non SSD internal HDD but since it took so long, it seems i need a new SSD with enought free space...^^

What use is there in doing this if you cannot save games?
In other words, just logged off after finding out that my games that I had saved from my current session of playing did not save to cloud.

EDIT: Correction, the games are saving just not to cloud, just checked.

Saved games are stored in:
C:/users/%USERNAME%/My Documents/Larian Studioes/Baldurs Gate 3/PlayerProfiles/
(your settings is stored in the previous folder)

And will not get uninstalled with the game.

Latest pact locked my hard drive to where it was being accessed at 100% but was doing nothing, no reading or writing of files.
