Game crashes when in multiplayer

Me and a friend have been playing through the BG3 multiplayer and we made it all the way to act 2 (post last light inn) and then suddenly whenever either of us interact with the world, an NPC, start a fight, open a chest, anything, the game crashes.

Now we have started a new playthrough but the same thing happens. We are able to connect to eachothers game and it doesnt seem to matter who is hosting, the game does NOT crash when moving our characters but the second we try and do anything else the game crashes and I cannot figure out why. None of the online tips have seemed to help so far. I dont know what caused this change and I have uninstalled/reinstalled this game multiple times, verified files, disabled firewalls, lowered the graphics settings, but the problem still stands.

I will take any help I can.

Is anyone of you using mods? Or was (!) using mods at any time? If one of you once used mods, there might be some leftovers that are causing the crashes.

And you might not just to verify or uninstall / reinstall the game, but also remove literally any leftover files after uninstalling.
