Why can't I open the game?

After the update on April 4th, my screen remains black and shows nothing each time I open the game. I even have to end the game by force quit. Is there anyone who experience the same problem? I play on Mac.

I turned off my wifi and launched the game successfully. However, when I turned on the wifi and click save game, the game became not responding. Is this a issue of server connection? How can I fix this?

More like cloud synchronisation issues. Disable Steam Cloud and ingame cross-save as described here.

The cross-save doesn't appear in my in-game settings so I think I am not using it. I tried to turn off the steam cloud for this game but the problem remains. Maybe let me describe my problem again:

If I start the game with internet connection, the game will get stuck in black screen and doesn't respond after showing Larian Logo.

If I disconnect from the internet the whole time, I can play the game, but each time I click 'save game' or 'load game', it takes a long loading time(I have no idea what is loading) before showing save-game or load-game options.

If I start the game without internet connection and then restore connection, The game will become 'not responding' once I click 'save game', so I have to force quit again.

This is really a strange issue and only occurs after the April 4th update. I really appreciate your help!

Might be more of a Mac specific issue.

If you are not using multiplayer here is my solution for you: block internet access only for the game via the privacy settings in Mac, if I recall it right.

That should resolve the connection issue without affecting your other apps and internet aside from the game only.

I have just solved this problem. It is due to incompatible save games after mini-patch updates. The problem disappeared after I deleted all old save games.
