Can't Cast Healing Word... sometimes?

I'll be in a fight, want to cast Healing Word, but it will be greyed out in all spell slots. I'll still have spell slots left, should be able to cast at any level sometimes, but the game just says "no" with no further explanation. At times I will have just cast it the previous turn. Rarely I can randomly cast it again the next turn. No effect changes on me in between and certainly none that should be able to keep me from casting anything. In fact, I may cast another healing spell as my main Action, but if I was downed or need to revive an ally first and then can't heal with my Bonus Action that same turn, the enemies will just down us again because I'm essentially wasting perfectly good Bonus Action heals. It's super frustrating in boss fights especially and I just can't figure out what to do about it. It doesn't matter if I select the spell from the BA tab or any of the spell slot tabs. I can "open" it up, but all levels are greyed out and I can't cast.

Anyone else experiencing this? Is it a bug or am I actually missing something?

Are you able to cast other spells? Is it just this one that does not work?
(Also do you have sight of the target you want to heal?)

Sorry, steam never showed me there was a comment to my post.
I can cast other spells as Actions, don't have any Bonus Action spells to see if they work, but I can use items as Bonus Actions (like healing potions and weapon coatings) and I can do Spell Slot Restoration. Other characters can cast HW as a BA in the same turn, too. It's just my Tav in both my run as Bard and as Druid so far.
Yes, I do have sight of my target, as I can't even use it on myself in those moments. The spell slots in the main window of the interface thingy (please tell me you know what I mean) are completely greyed out, so I can't even select what level I would want to cast at.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but it just sounds to me that you already used all of your spell slots this long rest, and since Healing Word requires at least one lvl 1, you can't cast it.

Don't take this the wrong way either, then, but if you read my post AND my reply very very carefully, you'll see that I do, in fact, have spell slots left as I a) said so and b) can cast other spells as Actions...

Not necessarily. The available spells is a bit messy how it shows up. (It is quite the mish mesh).
So take a screenshot so we can have a look.
(Cuz i know i had issues with spells until it turned out i did not have a spell left for that level, but i had for others.)

Like I said, I can still cast at at least one level when what I am talking about here happens. Again, sometimes, after a couple rounds, I can cast HW again; whatever was locking it suddenly gone.
I don't see why I would need to provide images when I have painted a very clear picture of what is not happening. Frankly, I find it a bit ridiculous that I've said twice now that I am not out of spell slots - I CAN STILL CAST AS MAIN ACTIONS - and all you can do is tell me I'm wrong. I, too, have seen glitches where I did not have spell slots left and they were shown as being there again/still. Then, when I clicked a spell to confirm I did not, in fact, have any left: surprise! All spell slots greyed out, including the tab icon ones. Once more: That is not what's happening here.
I truly hope that this message is now received because I'm running out of ways to say that I still have spell slots left :))))

Well all i can suggest to you is to contact Larian then. there is no official support for the game on steam.

You are not crazy or doing anything wrong. I just came across this problem and the solution is so stupid. Hit tab, go to your spell book, then under the "common" tab for the character in question (in my case, Halsin). You'll see the spell there (in my case, healing word), drag the spell icon into the common bar on the bottom of the screen with your other common actions like shove, jump etc. Now try casting it from that menu. When I tried to cast it from the spell slot menus, it never worked, but from the common menu it did. I hope this helps you and I'm sorry you had to deal with people who can't be bothered to read your full post before assuming you can't even read how many spell slots you have left.

I ran into this myself but it's not really a bug just a UI issue. Specifically I was having this issue on Halsin after respeccing him into a star druid and was wondering why I could use healing word out of combat (from the spell bar mind you) and not in combat. This is because healing word is part of his wood elf spell book and NOT his druid spell book.

All you need to do is press tab in game, then go to the spell book. At the top there will be little arrows that you may have to click to scroll over to the common spell book and then drag healing word into your COMMON action bar (the one on the left).

I had a similar issue but turns out I have the necklace that gives me Healing Word (and mass healing word) but they can only be used once before needing to long rest.

Yes, it says that in the items' descriptions and when hovering those spells after having used them once already. That is, once again, NOT what was happening. I may be stupid, but y'all aren't even reading my question or the million replies I've written to re-explain my situation.
Two people have now provided reasonable and relevant solutions for if this specific issue arises again. The post is over a year old and I have already stated it hasn't happened again since recently after I opened this thread. Why you felt like anyone with this particular issue needed to hear your unrelated response is beyond me. It's like I'm asking for an apple and you're handing me a pear. why.
