, 10's of thousands of bugs still needing fixing afterwards. aka 21 hot fixes? Lesson to take away. Wait a few years for the price and the fixes to settle down before purchasing, so that a playing through without constant patch messing up game saves is not an issue. Its like messing with production in real-time, its going to break. The game is so complex, that only after a certain level of critical, highs and mediums are fixed, that a few of the low issues will be also fixed and then no more. There just is not enough capital, time or resources to fix it all. For now, Keep patching Larian, someday you'll be done. At least when all the patching stops, you can count on some consistency.
BUT it is running fine. Just that they have patched out the Stealing from traders glitch. Now I have to resort to pickpocketing.
However if you are having this issue, it is a download issue.
You need to follow the guides for Cleaning Cache and Game update routine. Honestly, if you follow them they will help. Oh and report the issue to Larian directly. Bit of effort needed to do that, but only then can they understand and hopefully help.
Guess swinging back to this game at this stage is just not meant to be, i'll check back in 3 months time and lets hope it works then.
I'm now stumped, i went and grabbed a brand-new 1tb 980pro SSD, put a fresh install of win11, steam and drivers and it still crashes at the same spot. I'm not even running anything exotic:
AMD 5950x, 6900x, MAG X570 TOMAHAWK, 32gb, 5x samsung SSDs, 3x monitors (1x 1080p /1x1440p main/ 1x 4k) - Win 11 (22631.3155), Adrenalin 24.2.1
Will update bug report but i guess my PC is just cursed and does not like this game now ;(
In the event viewer it traces the problem to ucrtbase.dll, which should be part of Visual C++, so I tried reinstalling those but it didn't help either.
My event viewer was empty sadly but i did find this in the runlog:
Where did you find that log? I'm having almost the exact same problem as you
I tried running the game in safe mode and it still crashed (although it took longer for it to do so, for a while it was just stuck on 100% loading). So I don't think it's a driver issue, at least not on my end, I guess we just have to hope some future update fixes whatever is causing this :/
you can find it at:
Some other tricks that i also tried without success was, creating a new admin user, swapping and then running the bsgdx11.exe as admin without steam, as well as all of the ones listed in the : crashing-upon-startup (PC) faq[larian.com]
I did suspect this, but there are not that many people affected for it to be such a broad issue. My suspicion is something not working right with the update servers for Larian/steam.
oh my god it works for me too! And I have NVIDIA, so it surely can't be a graphics card problem but rather something Larian needs to address? Unless both AMD and NVIDIA suffer the same error. Either way, at least we now know the culprit.
Also when I turn the graphics back up in game menu after I finally get to it, it doesn't crash, unless I go back to main menu, so it seems to be tied to the main menu only, hopefully.
