Does the issue persists in a new campaign?
That is a typical levelcache issue if it works for you like that.
Nope. It is tied to the save file / Campaign we started together. I suppose I should've said "on other campaigns, the issue cannot be replicated" rather than saves. I see how this could be misleading.
You were right, I did follow this guide and now it's working :
this
I like to know details about this part:
Is the traveller's chest for any player missing?
And what do you mean in particular by "your character residing in Withers' Wardrobe"?
When you play together the character sure is not in the wardrobe at that time?
Yes. Funny enough, the chest for the host is missing. While my character is out of the Wardrobe, aka. not dismisses, I can join but we cannot reload anymore. In that state, the one and only traveller's chest we have available, only works for me and my boyfriend cannot access it.
When I leave, he can access it, but none of my stored items show up.
When he dismisses my character and it is placed in the "wardrobe" I cannot join his game anymore. I get stuck at 75% on the loading screen and he is not allowed to switch maps anymore.<
What I assume is happening is, that when the second player joins in they take control of the singular traveller's chest we have. Upon reloading a save while playing together, the game might get confused about the access rights to the Traveller's chest and gets stuck somewhere. That's just an assumption though. I have no idea how to confirm that.
The loading behaviour with my character in the wardrobe I cannot explain at all.
...my character is a Warlock. Maybe I managed to piss of my patron. Lol.
You are not using any mods, are you?
Share your savegame and I check on the missing chest when I have time.

In the meanwhile you could try and see if cleaning the cache as described in the guide linked by Dr.Phoqueson works for you:
Yeah, no mods. The cache also didn't help. That's one of the things we tried first.
I uploaded the savefile to file.io right here: https://file.io/OZCcCTl3jNMA
After one hour of testing I can only find one issue: the common camp chest not recognised correctly issue. Nothing harmful as it appears in singleplayer as well.
Here is your savegame back with a workaround applied: https://file.io/KdCUV78gAhOt
It is not the best, but should resolve the issue of having only one chest available.

I have also tried testing reloading the game in singleplayer and multiplayer. No issues on my side. Give the savegame a go and check if it works better for you. If not then it might be worth to check on other things on your end as I cannot replicate the reload issues.
It's curious that it didn't happen on your end. It happens to my boyfriend and me regardless of who hosts.
I will try that save soonish.
Thank you for your help so far.
Depending on how you connect with each other, there can be different reasons why the reloading fails. Mostly as a result of desynchronisation. With certain hardware like ASUS mainboards it can be difficult, also with some internet service providers. I recommend using a VPN like Hamachi. The emulation of a VPN has proven to stabilise game connections for P2P games greatly. Also Hamachi is free for private usage, so it is worth a try,
