Game crashes at Thorm Mausoleum puzzle

I attempted the Thorm Mausoleum painting puzzle and got it wrong at first. I didn't know the order, and the room filled with black smoke. I figured out the order, but when I try to click the second of three buttons, the game crashes. I tested the "file integrity", restarted Steam, restarted my PC, updated drivers, every ordinary turn-off-turn-on fix, and nothing has helped.

I could use some assistance. Pretty sure I need to do this to continue the game.
