Multiplayer save/load stuck at 100%, not loading in.
I started a multiplayer campaign with my sister, separate PCs and Steam accounts and all. We were playing through Act 1 together and everything went fine over the holidays. After Christmas we wanted to start anew on our adventure.

I loaded the game from my laptop, which she used before. For some reason, I had all her saves, while she had only a few, although all should have been saved to the cloud. To avoid replaying hours of content, I made the multiplayer session and handled saving, but this time from my Steam and Larian accounts. We experienced our first problems with companions being switched around to her avatar instead of being on mine, me not being able to send items to camp and so on. Still, we carried on and we finished our session.

Recently we made time to continue. I gave her my saves manually and she used them. I noticed that although they had my character's name in the File Explorer, they were still under her character (as the main character) when viewing them in-game. This time, we noticed our chests were swapped around and loot was mixed. Furthermore, when we tried to move our avatars around we got stuck without controlling any character and had to remake the session. Finally, when I was loading a save in multiplayer, we got stuck in an endless loading screen with 100%. I tried making the instance again and got stuck again. We can load the games fine in single player, but in multiplayer they don't work at all.

I even sent her the most recent save I made, with my character's name swapped for hers. This time the roles reversed and she could not send items to her camp. Loading still did not work at all. I think the issue is that I had already saved the game from my client/session so they are irreversibly messed up.

Does someone have any idea? Could someone take a look at the saves or try replicating the issue?

*not start anew, but resume, sorry.
**In the beginning, I did not have a Larian account. I later made one to have my saves sync, though this multiplayer campaign was also my first campaign so ...

I don't have a solution for you but I can verify we have problems with four players and that's without trying to have one person start as host and then turn over hosting to someone else. I highly recommend again doing that. If you are only in a few hours, might want to start fresh and have one permanent host.

My boyfriend and I have been having the same exact problem - it's been going on for about a month now. We have separate PCs but we switched between them for one session for no real reason and it has completely thrown our campaign out of whack.

It does seem to be irreversible but it's also affecting our friend group's multiplayer campaign. During a reload of one of the saves (neither of us the host). just his and my characters got switched.

It's incredibly frustrating and we even reached out to Larian support in hopes of getting some answers. If we do, I'll definitely update this post.

Funny enough, I was just thinking of posting our issue on Steam to see if anyone else had any idea what was happening (we previously were asking for help on Reddit).

I have found a temporary workaround, Have another person load the main save and host using the same save.
