Raphael doesn't help Astarion in act 2
Does anyone else have this problem; Raphael doesn't help Astarion, even though Cutscene is seen in a normal way. Even if Astarion himself or Tav, in Astarion's presence, talk to Raphael and he promises to help Astarion with his scars if Orthon dies, the quest is automatically updated so that Raphael does not tell Astarion and the necessary answers should be sought from Cazador. I didn't realize this until I had defeated Orthon, and even if I came back in saves, even if Astarion himself spoke to Raphael, the outcome wouldn't change. How to fix this problem? I wouldn't want to do the whole fight against Orthon again.

Did you have a long rest after defeating the orthon? Raphael will come to your camp after the orthon fight as long as haven't finished the act

Yes, I did the long rest, but nothing happened. Immediately after Raphael's offer, The Pale Elf quest has been updated as follows, :
"Raphael left without revealing anything about Astarion's scars. It seems if we want answers, we'll need to reach Baldurs gate ans ask Cazador himself."

I've played this quest before (this is my Dark Urge playthrough) and this problem has never happened before. Do you know what could be causing this problem? I've had other minor bugs, but nothing that has affected the game's storyline this much.

The same happened to me as well during one of my playthroughs.
Once I got to act3, went straight to Caza and “smacked him”.

I'm worried about how this bug will affect romancing Astarion. I wanted to have another Astarion confession dialogue for my Tav and leave the drow for later, but even if I take the drown dialogue option now, will the "failure" of this quest affect the romance later?

I've put a lot of effort into doing this playthrough carefully and building the story in a very specific direction. This may be ridiculous, but this bug bothers me beyond words, and I'm not at all thrilled with the idea of continuing the story in this format.

Yes I have this bug too. Luckily in arc 3, after reading Thay book, Astarion also know about the ritual. But I have a bug in Loroakan tower, I can't pick up the staff and the cloth :((((, those items are completely sitting on the table, as if they are some rocks or flowers on ground ;=;

I just went back to a week old save to get back to the very first time I learned of Astarion's scars after we slept together, focused entirely on continuing his questline up to meeting Raphael outside the mausoleum (with Astarion as the character leading the group) where I agreed to kill the orthon, but Astarion acted like he wasn't standing RIGHT THERE when Raphael asked us to kill his enemy, proceeded to kill the orthon AGAIN, and the quest updated in the journal with "Raphael left without revealing anything about Astarion's scars." AGAIN.

This is extremely frustrating. I have zero mods, it's a fresh install on a brand new pc, and I don't know if it's worth my time to start a whole new game, when I don't know if this bug will occur yet again.

I know I'm late to the Party, but this topic comes up when you google the issue, and I now figured out a workaround. The game insists on having the main character speak with Raphael, but if you make sure that they are far away (House of healing is enough) and use Astarion as a party lead, he will talk to Raphael instead and Raphael will make his offer.

If you killed Lyrthindor BEFORE Orthon Raphael will not help

So I just had the same problem and Astarion was definetly in my party. Here is how you CAN tackle the problem. Disband your group (aka leave you party behind) and approach Raphael with Astarion in Act II before entering the Mausoleum in the Shadowcursed Land. He will have a cutscene with Raphael that leaves you without the usual dialogue options. The interaction is pretty much the same as if you approached with another character. Just without the dialogue options. Afterwards the update in your journal will leave out the part stating that Raphael left without Astarion talking to him.

Seems like a bug to me to be honest. And if it isn't it feels quite weird
I have the same damn issue. I don't get why. I had started the quest off by adding Asterion to my group in Last Light Inn and talked to him but he never came back with an answer after killing Yurgir for him. Not cool, now I'm well into Act 3 and realizing this as I enter the vampire lair to kill Cazador. The quest for killing Yurgir looks like it never finished after killing him, that's where the bug is. It says the orthon is bound by Raphael's contract but never confirmed that I killed him and that was a really tough battle too. There are console commands Reddit has put out there that resolves this for only Windows users unfortunately, so I'm out of luck.
