Steam Deck - Assertion Failed Error

since a few days i receive an "assertion failed" error on my steam deck. no matter if i change the json file or if i try proton hotfix or any other version, it seems BG3 trys only vulkan and crashes.

anyone knows a fix?

Hey dude, I don't know if this will help you, I am on desktop linux (Arch). I bumped into the same issue. I had "Vulkan" selected in the game launcher and it worked fine until the last patch. I could not start the game anymore, with Assertion failed error. I selected DirectX instead of Vulkan now it works fine...no idea why, it used to crash with DirectX selected. Hope this helps you. Hey, thanks for trying to help. my issue is, that on my steam deck not on the gamemode nor on the desktop mode, the game launcher shows up. i tried all the tricks i found on the web, like disable the wifi and start bg3 then the game launcher should show up. tried it couple of times, didn't work. than i found something about a json file in which a value can be edited, but even if it saves it, the game seems to start with vulkan :(

I'm on manjaro and have the same issue with vulkan - crash on startup after November Patch. No issue with BG3 on Steam Deck but I'm in preview channel, maybe this can help?
Did you try --dx11 in the launch option?

I turned off the option to force a specific version of proton and this went away.

thank you. i had to reinstall BG3. that worked out as well.
