stuck in an update loop

so i downloaded the new patch now steam has the game stuck in a validation loop. it keeps re downloading the patch over and over again after each dl it tries to validate but when it gets to 100 it starts the download process all over again. please help.

But it may be that if I had not, it would have reinstalled and again on a loop. That could fill an SSD.

I have paused the update but that does not solve the problem. I still cant play the game because it requires an update. I don't think its downloading multiple patches. its having a problem validating everything. it looks like its redownloading but its not showing its downloading cuz there is zero network activity during this process. ive rebooted multiple times hoping it would change something. but no change as of rite now.

I cannot reproduce the issue, but in a similar case from very early on this has helped

i have not tried this yet that may be the issue cuz my operating system and storage for steam are on 2 different drives

That could be. But if that is the case then it is not because of two different drives, and rather bad OS settings. Especially users who use Windows 10 Home have that problem.
