Shar's Gauntlet crashes my game and my pc
Basically i can't keep doing the shar's gauntlet because once i enter the room for the first Shar's trial my character animations stop working, everything starts to get bugged and few seconds later it just gets stuck, the game freezes and i can't even quit the game, windows stops working properly, can't Alt + F4... i'm usually forced to turn off my PC the old way.

This also happened on the first door after the first elevator, coming from Thorm's crypt, but i managed to solve it turning all graphic settings to low since that worked in Grymforge (i had a similar problem, every time i entered Grymforge the game just broke) but when it comes to Shar's trials this doesn't work.

I usually run the game on high graphic settings without any issue, so i don't think it's an overall performance problem, but as i said, at the entrance and Grymforge minimum graphics solved it so it's pretty weird.
I run the game on DX11 (Vulkan doesn't work), NVIDIA GPU and AMD CPU if that's relevant

Given the issues you're having are graphical, I'd start by deleting the game's shader cache first and letting it generate again when you start your game. Instructions on how to do this are noted in the pinned post here IIRC.

second thing I'd try is to re-validate game files or a full bore uninstall, delete the folder under your Steamapps / common path. Ensure you're leaving the AppData folders alone as that contains your save games.

Failing that, and this might seem a bit odd, try rolling your Nvidia drivers back to an older 2022 release. I'm currently running 474.44 and the mini-map and map haven't worked since retail release, though they worked fine in Early Access. Also like yourself, Vulkan also hasn't worked since the official launch.

Alright, first of all sorry for the late response, but i'm glad to say the issue is fixed now.

I deleted the shader chache, re-installed the game, updated windows and GPU and, with that i got my game running a bit smoother but didn't fix my problem, i still had the same massive freezes/crashes

Since my PC wasn't working very well lately and i was about to acquire a SSD drive in a few days, i did a full format on my PC and changed both the system and Baldurs Gate to the SSD drive (unistalled and downloaded again), expecting to also reduce the loading times. Glad to say it everything works fine and faster now. I guess it was a problem with my old hard drive or even my OS files, can't say for sure but it seems it worked for me
