Larian Launcher block by Windows Smart App Control

Hi,

This issue has been bugging me twice. Apparently Windows Defender Smart App Control is blocking the BG3 from launching at all. Says dll is not recognized.

Is there any work around other than reinstalling the games, check file integrity, run bg3dx11 in admin mode, or run larian launcher in admin mode. change compatibility doesn't work either. Disabling smart app control via Window Defender is not an option either, as it will be permanent disable.

I had the same exact problem and tried everything but then i finally did a clean boot from the run app on windows and it worked for me.

"Click Start, or hit WinKey-R, type in msconfig and hit enter; in the General tab, click Selective Startup, uncheck Load startup items (if required) and leave Load system services and Use original boot configuration options checked. Next, click on the Services tab, check the box to Hide all Microsoft services, then click the Disable All button (maybe make a note of which are currently enabled/disabled), then click OK and reboot the computer. Run msconfig again to switch back to the normal boot configuration."

Just saw your post i was abit late. reinstalled the game now i have corrupt file THE LAUNCHER HAS A DATA MISMATCH ERROR message. been deleting hotfixs and some save files. i'm not sure where is this going atm.

Use this launch option --skip-launcher
(right click the game in library > properties > launch options)

that being said, i see you now ingame so i guess you fixed it by yourself :P

Well i've tried this too. doesn't work at least for me. as of now it happen again for the 3rd time.

yea, it was shortlived. now my steamcloud save is not in sync. i'm contemplating to delete the local save files. not even sure if i could save it make a copy.

sent a bug report to Larian. no feedback at this moment. guess i have to reinstall the game again. sigh*
