Xbox controller issues

This problem just started yesterday, but Baldur's Gate 3 won't accept any of my controller inputs beyond changing the UI to controller mode. I can't navigate menus, I can't move characters, I can't do anything with my controller but it does still switch to controller mode.

Everything I've read online so far says to disable Steam input, but that stops the game from even switching to controller mode. I've tried disabling Steam input but then specifically enabling the xbox controller through Steam's settings and now it registers as two controllers and opens split screen every time I press either A or Start.

What are your ingame settings on the matter? Is it set to controller control only? Did you try anyother USB port for your Xbox controller?

Is Xbox gamebar off? For some it got an update which might be the cause for the sudden issues.

Steam's calibration recognizes the controller and all inputs are working there. I have tried with steam input on/off and xbox game bar on/off. No other controllers are plugged in. The in-game setting defaults to automatic, even if I change it, and I did try setting it to controller only as well.

Hm... similar problems I had with another game when I did not set the controller configuration game specific. Once I had done that while the game is running, it was all good.

Is your setup game specific or global Steam? That might be worth to check.

Also, for good measures, maybe delete the existing controller setup for the game could help.

This is the first time I've messed with Steam's controller options, so it's whatever default is. I'm going through your guide's steps now, however.

I recently had this problem with my Xbox controller working and then all of a sudden not working. Followed the instructions to clear the cache and it worked great
