Auntie Ethel Fight broken this patch?

I'm currently trying to do the Auntie Ethel fight. I did it in a bit of a roundabout way, but I've seen a couple other people mentioning problems with this fight too and it's pretty annoying.

[ACT 3 SPOILERS]


So I went beneath the Blushing Mermaid basement just to look around and found an illusory wall that seemed to lead to a Hag's den. I walk into the den, sneak around the masks, and destroy one of the mushrooms I find inside an empty home because the description says it brings Auntie Ethel back to life and I know I kill that ♥♥♥♥♥.

She appears out of nowhere, gives some exposition about how she ate a little girl and I can't kill her without killing the kid. I realize that I have no way to deal with this, and load a previous save to leave the basement and confront the tavern owner. She reveals herself as Ethel, then I fight a bunch of redcaps. Okay, good, but still need to find out how to save Vanra. I go north a bit and find Mayrina and the lot in an abandoned house, save them from a traitor and hex, and then learn the recipe for Hag's Bane. I craft it and then move down into the lair. I engage the masked guards, and knock them all out nonlethally after breaking down their initial health with spells. Then I confront Ethel, and things SEEM to be going fine. My PC, Wyll, and Astarion are focusing on hitting the mushrooms with their ranged attacks. Since Karlach doesn't have good range, I give her the Hag's Bane to throw at Auntie Ethel while she gets close.

Nothing. The grenade seems to do nothing to Ethel no matter who throws it at her or how it's thrown, either from the inventory or from the throw icon at the bottom. This leaves the quest uncompletable, every time I kill her she acts like she's throwing up Vanra, dies, and the Vanra is inexplicably dead as well. Is anyone else having problems with this quest?

i found a fix

if you're mid fight detach the person with the hags bane from the party have them run away and flee combat. Then have them leave camp and toss the hagsbane at her without reentering combat (sneak up and throw)

Ive killed all mushrooms too before hand not sure if that helps it or not
and i manually went into inventory and chose throw also not sure if that helps
also did no damage to hag before hand once again not sure if that effects anything
