Hag's Bane not causing intended effect

When throwing Hag's Bane at Auntie Ethel in Act 3, the item does not cause Ethel to vomit. Consequently, Vanra is unable to be saved.

Have the same problem. My save was right before this fight, so no idea if it is new patch that broke it or has been broken for a while

Same thing for me :/

I have tried everything.
By killing all the mushrooms first and not killing any.
By lowering the hag's HP as much as possible and without hurting it.
By throwing the potion on the ground, right next to it or directly on it.
Everything... and nothing works.

But I'm glad I'm not the only one! ^^

I had such a hard time letting this go, I have the same affliction as everyone else playing I imagine. Reloading until the desired effect is attained. And it was simply not possible, she even acts like she is going to hueck Vanra up as she's dying... and then dies with the child.

i found a fix

if you're mid fight detach the person with the hags bane from the party have them run away and flee combat. Then have them leave camp and toss the hagsbane at her without reentering combat (sneak up and throw)

Ive killed all mushrooms too before hand not sure if that helps it or not
and i manually went into inventory and chose throw also not sure if that helps
also did no damage to hag before hand once again not sure if that effects anything

Found a workaround - went to Passive menu and activated non-lethal combat. Knocked out the hag, which gave me an option to cut Vanra out after she was defeated. That seemed to do the trick!

This! This worked for me. I noticed this time around when I just tested throwing it with a 60% effectiveness that it literally said 'MISS' when I threw it. So I whacked her around and out came the girl. Thank goodness. I wasn't very far past this point, so I was able to go back to my pre-battle save. I am so happy now.

did this but cant talk to the girl so cant progress quest.

This was fixed today in hotfix 5:
Fixed Hag's Bane not having an effect on Auntie Ethel.

For me the problem was that I didn't kill the mushrooms first. They are in the room next to the cave that you find Ethel in.
