Cant pick up stuff off the ground

Im sure people have already mentioned certain small objects around the world that you cant pick up no matter where you position your cursor or move the camera but is there any kind of fix for this? on the steam deck you hold in a button and it will search everything in a small area around your character and you can pick and choose whatever you want to take in a pop-up menu.

Is there anything like that on pc or nah? its getting very frustrating not being able to read important notes, pick up gold, pick up small weapons ect because the game doesn't feel like highlighting them and letting me interact with them.

I figured out if you use the button that highlights items and shows their name you can click on the name that pops up and you can pick up the item. havent found anything in the game that the trick doesnt work with.

This worked fine for me before February 2024, but now neither picking up or opening containers work while I press "left alt".

Came to this thread searching for an answer for why the skulls I dropped to decorate my camp couldn't be selected anymore. The alt trick didn't work for me either. However, switching to another character and moving him around made it the item selectable again. I think it may just be a visual glitch, and that moving the camera/characters around helps fix it. Not 100% certain, but wanted to chime in just in case it might help someone else.
