Game crashes on loading save

So, to be fair I thought it had to do something with mods, but I've been playing with some light mods since act 1, now I'm well in the middle of act 3 and my game keeps crashing when I try to load my save. I deleted all mods, even reinstalled a clean game without steam cloud, still crashes when I try to load my saves. Doesn't happen when I create new game so it's not mods fault, I can make a new game but not load my old saves. Anyone help please?

Do not use mods if you do not understand how they work.

You may read what you wrote, slowly, and then rethink it. You gave yourself the answer, despite you denied it.

I don't understand your answer. I've been playing with mods for most of my playthrough and didn't have crash on loading save once. Also when I replaced them earlier or deleted them from game folders to play coop with my friend I could still load my singleplayer save, just without mods. But now it crashes and even after complete reinstall and no mods I can't load it. Then i tried putting the same mods I used in this save and it still crashed but when I make a new game with the same mods it works fine

Consult the mods authors for further explainations.

But it's not caused by the mods, I just explained it. I don't know if you've ever modded a game but when you reinstall a game or delete the mods completely, unless the mods change so much in the game that it won't load the saves without them, everything should be fine. And i only had 4 light mods. Nothing the game didn't load without earlier. Thanks for nothing

Try an older save.

I had this issue last night. It was my save file was corrupted.
I have one mod, the native camera tweaks.

I removed the mod and verified integrity and it replaced a file but the issue remained.
I loaded a previous save and it worked.
I added the native camera tweaks again and loaded that same older save that worked before and it loaded fine.

I tried loading save from act 2 and act 1 and it crashes all the same, had these mods since act 1. But creating new game doesnt cause any crashes

I am having the same issue from loading all saves to creating a new character and it working. I spent hrs going through everything even clearing caches and re downloading everything but nothing worked. Would rather not restart after getting close to end game and 100+ hrs of gameplay...

did you ever find a solution? I'm having the exact same problem with the latest patch 5. new saves work fine with mods. none of my pre-patch saves load at all and the game just crashes at 75% loading.

No, this is not caused by mods, I never installed any and I'm having the same problem. For what I know its a bug that came after the latest update and that is really popular among XBOX players, but can happen to any platform, really (For example: I play on pc, saw other people who played on Mac on the same situation)

Also, I think that Larian alredy knows whats going on (?) and it's trying to fix it right now

hey im having the same problem, I tired everything i can think off but nothing works. Did you figure out how to fix it i´m getting really annoyed with not being able to play

To the OP: Since you know starting a new game works fine, it makes sense a previous save game that had mods installed that aren't now (at least given the post timeline) wouldn't work. Did you re-install the mods afterwards?

Also, are the mods you previously used Patch 5 compliant?

To the others that weren't using mods and are having issues, I was also experiencing issues loading saves after patch 5 rolled out. It worked for a few hours and then later in the same evening, stopped completely.

I did locate a guide and followed it in it's entirety. The end result was the game works and is probably the most stable it's been.

To everyone, I'm sorry, I forgot about this thread.
1. My save works perfectly fine after patch 5, haven't done anything new to fix the problem, patch itself must've fixed it
2. Before when I couldn't load save it wasn't caused by mods as I can now load it without any mods (because they're outdated now) or with new mods
3. I am always, and recommend the same, reading mods description, some mods cannot be uninstalled just by deleting the file or at all without breaking the game!! That's why I was sure the issue wasn't the mods.
To everyone who has this problem after patch 5 and/or without using mods, if even after completely reinstalling game (ON STEAM REMEMBER TO TURN OFF STEAM CLOUD) and clearing larian studios cache, I feel sincerely sorry for you but you can only wait and hope it gets fixed. Good luck fellow adventurers
