Non-lethal damage kills Astarion (Act 3 Spoilers)

Went to sleep in act 3 and got a cutscene where a bunch of vampire spawns of Cazador came to kidnap Astarion, fight begins, not using Astarion at all in this one so he's still lvl 1 while everyone else in the fight is lvl 12 so I figured he would die, specially because he's an npc in that fight and you can't make him run away, but to my surprise when the first enemy took a bunch of strikes to move straight to Astarion and downed him in a single hit it was non-lethal damage and Astarion was just knocked unconcious, I literally let out a sigh in relief and proceeded to kill all the vampires.

But after that I couldn't eake Astarion up, scrolls of revive didn't work nor did any healing and cure spell, help action didn't either, he was at full health again and had no debuffs but was still unconcious, having no other option after even speaking with withers just to be sure I went back to sleep feeling confident he would be fine by the morning.

He wasn't, he was perma-dead, his quest finished stating he was killed, talking to withers gives no option to revive him and I assume it's because lore deaths are different from normal deaths but at least being able to ask withers about it and being denied would feel organic instead of the gamey "can't even mention it", honestly the fact that knocking out does nothing but RP didn't bother me before that but this one was very silly and left me very frustrated, I couldn't lvl him up to 12 prior to the fight unless I knew the fight was coming and switched someone out of the party just to lvl him up during the day, he had full health and was just unconcious when we went back to sleep.

My last save was over 1 hour before and I didn't want to reload so now Astarion is dead forever in my game just because falling unconcious is actually more deadly than dying in this game, at least with full death you can use revivify but unconcious is an eternal incurable coma.

I'm sorry if I sounded a bit rude, I'm still loving the game and have 150 hours in it so far with only minor issues apart from this one but this left me vert frustrated.
