Yup...just got mine.. Still going through some steps and seeing if any of them work
will update here

So the "verify integrity of game files" option helps, though no idea if this will repeat itself later

Well....like l said above, that works for me... but not sure if it does for you. Have you tried that "verify integrity of files" option yet?

"That's because of modlist.lsx that the file's name. Find it is in device c -> local -> larianprofile... I remove it then fix the same problem."

Thanks to Janusz I was looking in the right direction. If you can't find it, try:
C > Users > [your computer user where you play the game ] > AppData > Local >LarianStudios> Baldur'sGate3
From here, I had one file in two different locations named modsettings.lsx . It was in the Global and PlayerProfiles>Public folders. I'd recommend just deleting the file in Global first and see if that fixes the problem. If you delete both like I did-

After removing the files, my game opened but the terrain looked weird (things missing). I had steam verify the file integrity for BG3 and it seems to work fine. For me, steam only readded the mod settings.lsx in the public folder.

Endless thank yous to Janusz. I haven't seen this open since August of last year!

Does anyone know what the modsettings.lsx file is? I deleted it and the game loaded fine, but I'm nervous about trying to play the game modded again.

There is no official mod support yet. If you want to play modded you do it at your own risk:)
