Help needed: Failed to create instance

So ... prior to hotfix and patch, BG3 played fine, and was stable. Since then, it would crash after about 5 minutes of play, everytime. So ... I have uninstalled/reinstalled, deleted the %appdata%, restarted, closed steam, updated AMD adreno, etc...

Now ... when I launch in vulkan I get a 'can not create instance' error and it won't run. When I lauch in 11, it stall in the load at 100% indefinately, and won't run.

Anyone have ideas of what might solve this. Currently, my best thought is to leave the game for 6 months until it becomes stable, but I am hopeful there is another idea out there.

So, I had the exact same problem. Turned out that after the game crashed my drivers stoped working. Windows didn’t even recognized my GPU and it was impossible to install drivers.
Here’s step by step what I did:
Used Display Driver Uninstaller
Took out GPU and put it back
Used old drivers installer - finally drivers installed
Updated my drivers.
Now everything is working. Some of the steps are probably unnecessary - you’ll probably be fine using DDU and then installing new drivers right away.

I appreciate your response to my note. Though I didn't follow those steps, I did do a repair install for AMD Adrenaline and drivers. That fixed the issue (for now ...). Thats a new one for me that a game crash can then break device drivers. Larian has a very unusual R&D group!

Bro. I think you might have saved my life. I tried every solution for my game freezing at 100% on the loading screen, but nothing helped. Tried to run Vulkan to see if that played nicer with my GPU and that just didn't launch at all. Found your solution, went to devices, and sure enough, somehow the game crashing disabled my GPU and screwed up the drivers? I didn't go through all the same steps you did, just this:

• Open Device Manager
  
• Display adapters
  
• right-click GPU name listed
  
• enable
  
• GPU name has an error icon
  
• right-click again
  
• repair install

What exactly do you mean by "Enable" and "Repair Install"? I can see that there's an error on my device manager, but can't seem to figure out what to do from there
