PSA: How to Get Rid of Permanent Clown Makeup (Circus)

I love this game but it's definitely clear you run into more bugs the farther you get into the game.

After a long while of trying to resolve a certain issue to get a non-goofy cutscene I have finally found a way to get rid of the circus clown makeup you might have applied to your party when you were just trying to have fun afternoon at the circus.

I found this bit from a reddit user u/arufinosa posting in a thread when searching for a solution:

"Buy more makeup from the vendor; reapply the makeup to a character with the bug. Take another long rest, and make sure *that* character is the one you control and interact with the campfire to rest. Tah-dah! Make up gone! You can repeat this for each other companion still stuck with the makeup visual."

This solution works, but unfortunately, it can back fire if you have story/cutscenes lined up on your long rests like I did.

The solution: You will need a revivify scroll or a character that knows revivify. Buy more makeup from the vendor and head into the cavern below the Open Hand Temple. Apply the makeup to a character with the bug. Take said character to the area with a chest that is covered in an area of Cloudkill. Jump down to the Cloudkill area and let the character die and fail their saving throws until they are dead dead. Use a revivify scroll or cast revivify spell on them and they should resurrect without the makeup.

This should work in any way where the affected character fully dies and is resurrected but the above was the way I was able to solve my issue without having my characters murder each other.

What if the circus is destroyed and no vendors exist?

Yup it works, thanks. If you don't want to walk to the cave or don't know where it is, just outside of the circus there is a house with vines to climb up, two jumps is all it takes to die.

This worked! Thank you! I dont think i could take Astarion seriously with the clown makeup on any longer.

Thank you so much, I've put off everyone's personal quests as long as I could because I just couldn't keep a straight face doing those dramatic scenes with my insane clown posse.

UGH, I have the same problem! I'm currently looking for all the vendors I've interacted with, in hopes that I sold some makeup to anyone. 😭
