Yeah, sometimes vulkan is more stable. Allthough in Underdark it might cause you crash at other parts, and definetly in Grymforge.
I played through vulkan in the whole area of Underdark no issue. But once i entered Grymforge i had to switch to DX11.
Vulkan before hotfix 4 was generally a more stable option, and though it favours apparantly AMD you can use it quite well with both AMD and NVIDIA (and intel:D)
It is still most likely tied to the same reason.
I am unsure why you installed or DL-ed an vulkan stuff:) all you had to do is select vulkan:D and that is it. Because i am 100% sure i did not install a thing on my newer computer and it worked in vulkan.
(At the launcher you can start with dx11 or vulkan)
As long as you dont rest you can do whatever you want :)
(I rested three times at mountain pass cuz i had to lol, to get all the cutscenes so i can advance to next map:D)
