Starting Certain Dialogue Leads to Freeze and Game Crash

Every time I start a dialogue with either Blurg or Nere, my game freezes for 10-30 seconds, then crashes to desktop. I have for now skipped starting dialogue with Blurg, but I am unable to proceed further in the game, as I'm worried if I just leave Nere where he is to come back later, possible consequences of doing so will have played out. I've tried saving beforehand and reloading, restarting the game, deleting LevelCache files and executing the game as admin (as Larian recommends), rebooting computer, updating game files, and skipping the Launcher altogether. I submitted crash reports to Larian already, and am hoping there will be a fix soon, however, in the meantime, does anyone have any suggestions that I haven't tried yet? Thanks so much.

Edit: Reinstall didn't work, switching to Vulkan didn't work. I did, however, install a couple of Quality of Life mods, just camera angle stuff and using Alt to see items. After installing those mods, suddenly I can speak with these characters and continue without crashing. Strange! I'm okay with it, though. I dunno if the mods changed/replaced some of the files and that somehow corrected it, of it was just a fluke - but either way, the issue seems to be resolved, for now at least. Thanks for the suggestions.

Using vulkan? If so switch to DX11. Underdark and Grymforge for some reason tend to crash with Vulkan:S

Nope, using DX11. I don't have anything Vulkan on my PC. Should I try that, just to see?

Yeah, sometimes vulkan is more stable. Allthough in Underdark it might cause you crash at other parts, and definetly in Grymforge.
I played through vulkan in the whole area of Underdark no issue. But once i entered Grymforge i had to switch to DX11.
Vulkan before hotfix 4 was generally a more stable option, and though it favours apparantly AMD you can use it quite well with both AMD and NVIDIA (and intel:D)

Alrighty, so I downloaded/installed all the Vulkan stuff and it still crashes at the same places lol. I guess I can try a reinstall of the game, see if that helps. Will update after.

Game is experiencing random crashes for many players...They need to roll out a new hotfix. Mine crashed 4 times yesterday, today it crashed as soon as I got into the main menu.

That should definitely be fixed. My issue isn't random crashes, though, they're specifically when I start dialogue with certain NPCs. But hopefully a hotfix can also fix that if my reinstall doesn't work.

It is still most likely tied to the same reason.
I am unsure why you installed or DL-ed an vulkan stuff:) all you had to do is select vulkan:D and that is it. Because i am 100% sure i did not install a thing on my newer computer and it worked in vulkan.
(At the launcher you can start with dx11 or vulkan)

Ah, because I tried just switching to Vulkan and launching the game, and it was just a blank screen that didn't respond. So, I manually downloaded the Vulkan files, drivers, etc., and it launched the game fine after. I dunno, I'm just trying to be thorough lol. So, yeah, I was able to launch the game fine afterward, but the issue still persists lol.

Regarding your question with Nere. As per hearsay you can only have 1 long rest, any more he dies, some say it is one short. I dont know i never rested till i was forced to in order to progress the story. Not even short Rest.
As long as you dont rest you can do whatever you want :)
(I rested three times at mountain pass cuz i had to lol, to get all the cutscenes so i can advance to next map:D)
