Vulkan or DX 11?
If it crashes on one try the other:)
Lower city is a mess as per most posts. It shows this is the last area they added, huge performance issues, game breaking bugs etc. I did not reach there yet though at Riventon:D
I can't play 1 hour without receiving a crash while I'm in the Lower City. My system surpass the requirements (i9-14900k and RTX 4080 with 64GB of DDR5 RAM). It's a bit frustrating...
Please make your own thread with additional details about temperature, RAM usage and background apps.
Otherwise your request will get lost or mixed up with solutions unfit for your specific case.
Yup, sorry for that. I found this issue here and wanted to add my case.
With that intention I recommend you provide information to Larian Support instead.
send in your issue, your savegame and your DxDiag report here
via email support@larian.com
or
via online form https://larian.com/support/baldur-s-gate-3#modal
that way your issue gets tracked by Larian and if they can identify a specific issue we get a chance that it gets patched unless it is something on your side, like a third party app which is mentioned on their support site.
The forums are unfit for tracking such things, because of the lack of needed information in particular. That is why I recommend to people one thread per case = because even if a case "sounds alike" on the surface, it might be entirely different issues.
Did you ty this for instance?

It does not fit every case, but might be easy to give a try in your case. For anything more I strongly recommend sharing your DxDiag report and savegame in a new thread for your case.
I have bumbped a thread I made a week ago where I addressed this issue so maybe someone have the solution there.
I'll change the MOBO soon to check that this is not realted with the XMP profile of my current motherboard (just in case). If that doesn't work, I'll try to contact to the Larian's support.
Just in case: I love this game with all of my soul, and it's, indeed, the deserved GOTY. ^^
Thanks for the help!
Keep in mind that changing something crucial like the motherboard should go alongside a fresh install of Windows. Otherwise you can encounter issues impossible to detect.
Also, a different motherboard can have an XMP profile as well. Check that beforehand in the BIOS.
Good luck! Let us hope your issue gets resolved soon.
Yeah, I chosed another brand which works better with 4 RAM sticks (6000Mhz), so maybe it can handle the loads better.
About creating another thread: It should not be done if there's another thread that addressed the problem according to the Steam community guidelines, I added more info to the case I bumped in order to not to respect them and trying to contribute in something.
