Joining failed: You're already connected
I'm at a loss. My wife and I are trying to play through a dedicated co-op campaign (separate PCs, separate steam accounts, separate copies of BG3). We were about 10 hours in with no issues and tonight suddenly we get a "Joining failed: You're already connected" error with every attempt to join the same game.

I found the following recommendation that works (sort of. you permanently lose your save files):
- Copy/Backup the Larian Studios>Baldur's Gate 3 folder from AppData>Local.
- Delete the Baldur's Gate 3 folder in AppData>Local
- Right click Baldur's Gate 3 in Steam->Properties->Disable Steam Cloud
- Launch game.
- **Starting a new save does allow for multiple to work again**

The moment I put our campaign save file back and we try to continue where we left off, multiplayer is broken again.

Has anyone had any luck finding a permanent solution to this issue that doesn't involve completely wiping save files? Should we hold out for an official patch?

We were really looking forward to continuing our playthrough :/

This needs a fix badly. WE WANT TO PLAY! Checking for patch every single day.

Both disconnect from the game, wait 5 mins then retry, one of you needs to time out.

Have you tried the clean boot approach? Since it always works it is somewhat a last resort.
