Rescue the Trapped Man Quest Bugged

So i've been trying to complete this quest for awhile now, i have to find the ring in the haystack but all my party members failed the perception check leaving me stuck with no way to grab the chest. Ive even tried speak with dead on the dead wife so they can tell me, but i still don't get a prompt to search the haystack. Changed party members too and nothing worked. Has anyone else have this problem i just wanted to complete this before moving on in the game.
