SPOILERS All NPCs in the Underdark Grymforge disappeared
So I got into the Underdark Grymforge (where all the Dwarves are) and I got to the Adamantine Forge, killed Grym, forged my item and then went back to the Dwarf area.
All NPCs are gone, even the Dwarves that I killed their corpses aren't around anymore.

Has this happened to anyone else?
Is this because of using the forge and it being an intended side-effect?
Is there any other explanation to this?

No this can’t be a bug and this can’t be anything to do with Nere. All of them are gone but when I went to the door a door a Dwarve started talking to me telling me I needed the Moonlantern. When I was finished he disappeared again. This is also after I recovered the broken Moonlantern.
It definetly is not a bug. But still very annoying since the game does seem to expect you to finish all your business while you are there. But a long rest just destroys that.

Pay attention to the story - The game literally warns you if you take too much time - there is a cutscene where Nere reaches out psychically and says he's getting poisoned. If you long rest or fast travel around too much, Nere will die and everyone leaves coz there's no reason for them to be there if Nere(the drow who organized the expedition and has to pay everyone) dies.

For me personally i was fast traveling around and doing the "easy" quests first and minmaxing the hell out of my build using magic items. Then after i fast travelled yet again to myconid colony for sweet loot the game finally warned me using nere dialogue that ppl are getting poisoned while i'm exchanging rotten food for gold.
makes sense to push people like me into playing the game instead of being loot maniacs.

For me i was in the Grymforge and went into the sidepath to the darkforge for the Adamantite weapons. I did not know that one long rest would kill Nere which was very annoying. So i lost 2 hours killing the forgeboss so that i could properly advance the Absolute Quest.

iI haven't finished the game yet but I assume there is some later event that requires nere to be dead or alive and having him in ambiguous state will break that storyline.
I didn't even rest, and when I came back they were all gone. Great game

I dont have to long rest. I just visit the camp twice and everyone. Even the spiders are gone. When i go to the exit pisspot appears and warns me about the shadow curse

i'm sure now, its a freaking bug. All NPC turned invisible. Well super invisible I saw a speech bubble walking around. And the gnome in the last In ,in the shadow curse ,is also not there...
