moonlight lantern game ending bug?
i think i just soft locked the game. so here is how it went, i got into the shadow lands with the torches and met the harpers. they tell me about the inn to go to if i need rest but at the time i was full stock so i said im going to explore a bit. i had little trouble with most of it and got through almost the entire shadowlands (except moonrise) but i ran out of spells and abilities near the end. then i stumble upon the spider drow ambush, not wanting to fight such a big tough looking guy while my party is naked i let him pass. i see him stop down the road and figure "ok ill long rest then come back and mess this dude up". well no, he was gone when i came back. so i said ok whatever ill just keep exploring. found out that the area around moonrise is super dark (advanced darkness) so i cant go there. eventually i say ill go to the inn and do that stuff then. i go to the inn talk to some peeps and that druid lady says talk to this magic boogle lady upstairs to get a buff. i think "oh yeah this will get me into that super dark place." (it doesn't btw). i go up and talk to her and it starts a fight instantly and my characters roll poorly on their initiative and the magic lady gets knocked out in one round because of some nasty crits and gets abducted before i can even take a turn. fast forward to the point, they say my goal is to get into moonrise but i cant go in without dying. no one will even talk about this with me they just say "go kill the guy". i cant get the moonlantern from the caravan because its gone and i just have a broken lantern i got from nere with no way to repair it. i even reloaded the save losing 6 hours of progress to redo the abduction fight and save the magic boogle lady and even then the harpers tell me they plan to ambush that caravan but my only option is to say "he left already" and they say dang and leave. they mention there are other ways but i cant find anything, all my quests are inside moonrise ive gone everywhere i can think and done all the side content. i even went to the gith and did that stuff to see if i got anything there (even though i didn't want to) and nothing. am i just screwed because i decided to explore too much before going to the inn?

I'm in a similar situation I get the lantern from the spider and then on with some other quests, now the lantern just broke in my inventory for no reason and I'm soft locked as well.

Fellas, there is another way to get the lantern, use the southernmost enterance to the Moontowers where the toll booth is, you will still suffer necrotic damage but I guess send the fastest and biggest health guy you have and rush through the toll booth. There is enemies there but they shouldn't bother you

When you pass the toll booth, turning left is the enterance to the Moontowers and there is fast travel sign there, then you can teleport your party easily. No shadow there because moonlanterns will be positioned as street lamps.

In the Moontowers you will get a chance to get the moonlantern on the first quest you recieve there, but don't be killing people just play the true soul masquerade a bit

Ah, no worries, there had to be a way, thanks for the award man
I'd say it's still an issue with the Drider that should be fixed or changed or atleast give note that convoy seems to be getting away, rush for it or something, I mean you trigger the convoy unknowingly and if you hide they continue down the road, fine I get the ambush quest, but how should I have known I need to speak to someone else before it or rush for them like crazy, because I pretty much just entered the shadowlands and went exploring a bit before the Last Inn..

yeah really, like with nere's quest they tell you that if you leave or rest he will die, like no way to have this happen in that quest line. but here they let you get totally screwed and you just don't know until its too late.

That looks like a tricky way to bypass the problem..

For me I just encountered the drider and let them pass before getting into hotel, so they just disappeared and seems nowhere to get the lantern anymore..

It is totally fine if that's exactly the plot, but no dialog/clues indicate it, makes me feel quite confusing. Just like a bug instead of a reasonable consequence.

Actually i gave out similar solution once. And there is an easier and less dangerous way. If you select the far left bridge, where you can find Rolan, you jump through ,and run left you will get to a moonlamp litten area. (It will show street lamps with white light)
That is the docks, you will encounter a single guard there. You can pass via an easy check, or kill her, but it is best to do it stealthily or fast loot and hide the corpse.
Once done you can continue walking through the docks, then you will get into the dungeon part of the Tower. From there on you can continue with certain side quests, or you can wonder around. One thing to note that there is a ladder with which you can climb up to supporting pillars, under the ceiling in the main room (where two traders are, and a trio of goblins, the ladder is by the goblins).
Once you climbed up, you should head the direction where the traders are...If you go to the end you will see a skeleton. Loot it and turn left. Then you will get to a strange tree, and you can climb it. This will lead you upstairs to a Selunite room. One of the adjoining room will be the General's room, which has a back door. (DC 30 for general's room)
Exit through the back door once you've done all you wanted.
There you are on a balcony and there is another door beside you with also DC 30. Enter this room, voila, you found your moon lantern;)
Also if you go out from the main hall(i mentioned earlier with the traders) using the main gates, you will get to the bridge which is next to the Ancient symbol you describe. So enter turn mode with one person, at the end of the bridge run to the symbol and back.

This way you get less damage.
