Constant screen flickering

I've been trying to play my way through the early parts of this game but some UI flickering is making it almost unbearable to look at. It starts during the first loading screen and will then be more or less constant, with the screen flickering rapidly and making it really borderline headache inducing to look at. Sometimes it will briefly go away if I open a new menu like the options, but then a few seconds later after another loading screen or even something as simple as panning the camera around, it comes back.

I've tried tweaking several graphics options and have updated my GPU drivers to a version that the game recommended when I first launched it. Has anyone else encountered this or does anyone else know of anything else I could try? This is the only game I've played where this has happened.

Nvidia control panel > turn off gsync or equivalent and should be fine I believe.
