10900k + 4090 Abnormally low in game FPS
Has anyone experienced or seen comments regarding very low fps in game in comparison to others. Using the latest 536.67 drivers and reinstalled windows, bios etc but can only seem to hit 80 fps regardless of settings. Running at 1440p - even turning on DLSS, no change in FPS at all. Every other game I play seems to be fine - 160 FPS+ Diablo 4 1440 High / MW2 stable 130+ FPS etc

V-sync etc is all off, changing to 1280 x 720 still 68-70fps in game. :(

In the BG3 start up menu, fluctuates from 160 - 200 FPS 1440p / High settings
CPU usage - 30-40%
GPU usage - 80-99%

Once the game loads the usage drops to:
CPU usage - 30-40%
GPU usage - 30-40%

10900k
4090
64gb RAM

Any insight is appreciated :D

I'm still on driver 536.40 and I get basically locked 120fps at native 4K max settings with a Ryzen 7800X3D and RTX 4090. Might try rolling back your drivers just to rule that out. Also are you using DX11 or Vulkan?

Seems quite strange, something is locking our performance in the game. have you tried locking your FPS to 60 or something like that. I read that helps with some stability?

Thanks Patrick, will try and grab those drivers to test as well!

Ive tried locking FPS to different settings, and tried both DX11 and Vulk.
Done nearly everything the laurien site says to trouble shoot.... nothing helps after that force reboot.

have rolled back drivers yet though,

I just tried the older drivers, complete wipe with DDU.
Tried 524.48 + 536.40 - still the same issue, only experienced in BG3 though.

Ran Cyberpunk benchmarks on 536.40 and 536.67 runs totally fine: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZXeOnUijKxM-bHYSMRROjB0hjhmUwysX/view?usp=sharing

Can barely get above 70 fps in BG3

Some people have reported that changing from Borderless to Exclusive Fullscreen on NVIDIA helped their FPS a lot, could try that if you haven't.

i don't have any fps problem but i have an enormous stutter problem since my game is on an hdd, also the option in game to slow hdd just make it worse since i have just a 1060 6gb.

Its not drivers and borderless/fullscreen also didn't change anything. Stable locked 144fps at 4k, must be something else

Have tried both full screen and windowed borderless, including all setting options, low - high etc and no budge at all. Still the same 60-70 fps with very large fluctuations, almost as though it's running purely on one core.

Drivers seem to be fine for some, so it must be some conflict between other software perhaps, but this is also happening for AMD setups :/

The fact your gpu is being maxed out indicates its a gpu issue to me. I'm assuming you have tried dx11/vulkan, (vulkan is trash for me). Is your GPU boosting correctly and have you checked its power draw? Is it over heating?

edit: I didn't read your post properly, could be a power issue? Disable native PCIE power management in BIOS. Make sure you have best performance set in windows power management (settings panel > search for power)

Thanks Creo, tried a few things.

Power draw capability seems fine and also the game runs well in the menu and character select, hitting about 160-200 FPS for example.

Once you load in, it drops to 60-70 even changing the res to 1280 x 720. I've set the app to high priority in windows, high power/perf mode and also turned ASPM off in the BIOS (it was auto) but not having issues on other games at all.

BG3 Menu = 400w power draw / 160-200fps now
BG3 in game = 120w power draw / 60-80fps regardless of settings mainly

Diablo 4 - High = 160-200 fps
Cyberpunk - High & RT on = 120+ fps

I also tried a fresh install and also used DISM to restore windows, but no issues there. Closed all other applications and software, iCue. MSI afterburner etc. No Steam overlay, also no GeForce Experience installed.

Seems as though I'll just have to play at 60fps or so for now, bloody nightmare. haha

Hey. seems like i have exactly the same problem (10700k with 3070 32ram never over 70-80 fps). I've sent you a friend request in case you've figured how to overcome/fix this. Thank you!

Same here 5900X/7900XTX game was crashing every minute in Grymforge (but not elsewhere)

Solved it using a post here ysterday (can't find it...) saying you just need to reduce max GPU clock in Adrenalin, put my card at max 2000MHz then 0 crashes !!!
I have the same issue here. 45 to 60 fps with a 4090 and an AMD Ryzen 7 3800X. Anybody found a solution ? Thanks !
