Can't join session: you're already connected
Hello again, I figured out what happened after searching for a solution for 3 hours !
When launching the game , it gather's files that ar stored on the cloud.
If those file are somewhat corrupt or inadequate they will keep the user from joining the game.
It is my advice that on the first run of the game ( multiplayer) you load the game without clouds files ( just turn off cloud on the steam game property)
Once you run the game once again you can turn that fiture back on.
What a fantastic game !
Cordially

This is still not working. MY wife and I both have our own copies of the game. Still getting this error, trying online games AND LAN. We havent even started yet so naming characters isnt a problem at the moment.

For anyone having this issue go to C:\Users\myUser\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur’s Gate 3 and delete your Baldurs gate 3 folder.

Verify game files after and it should fix the issue for you.

Best of luck

Ok I did this and also deleted the launcher folder as well. Figured what the heck...also, on my other pc, which is the one that would also not connect, I did the same and BINGO, it finally worked. Wont mention the fact that I also went and bought a new katana laptop as well, but when that also didnt work, I found this and it did. Guess I feel kinda silly, but my 11 year old girl now has a shiny new laptop to use haha. Hope it continues to work and others get this to work as well.

Does this delete my save ? I want to continue playing on my steam deck while I'm away from home but my buddy also plays on my steam deck on his account when we play co op together.

If you do that without thinking, yes, it will delete your savegame. That is why you need to pay attention to where your savegame is located, and delete the cache accordingly.

See here, here you can find a manual which files are safe to delete and which not without losing your savegame
