I have way weaker system (16GB RAM, 2070 Super, Ryzen 5 3600) and never had this happen.
By battery, do you mean your PCU?
Also what are your temperatures / settings / resolution?
The game may be the trigger, but it's not the cause. If your battery backup is kicking in then perhaps your computer is not getting enough power. This can be caused by a poorly performing PSU or drawing more power than the PSU is rated for. In some rare cases it could be caused poorly performing wall outlet. In any case though, this is a hardware problem. Software can not trigger a power failsafe to trip without the failsafe seeing lowered (or no) power readings.
There are a few things you could try to troubleshoot:
APC Battery Back-Up, keeps my pc running when the power goes out.
I auto-detected and it set it to ultra. But then I bumped it down to high when this started happening. I am just running 1080p, I do not have a fancy monitor :D
I am going to try limited FPS like the other person suggested. That may be the answer.
It is 100% fine, only when playing this game. So I appreciate the help, but there is nothing wrong with the system otherwise. Most games the temp is around 65-75. I did not see what temp it was when it shut down, I just touched the case and determined it was way hot from that. I have no intention of attempting to duplicate the heat shut down lol. I am going to try limiting FPS before I start messing with the BIOS and what not for something that happens with one piece of software.
OS: Win 10
CPU: AMD FX 8150 Bulldozer 3.6Ghz
Motherboard: ASRock 890FX Deluxe5
RAM: 16Gb
GPU: Nvidia GTC 1050 Ti
PSU: 700w
I played in Directx11 and again saw graphical errors but more so than in early access and also got stuck with some of my characters being in cut scenes but also stuck in combat. Weird things like that. So i decided to change my settings and play in Vulkan.. Wow that was a mistake. I played for about an hour before my PSU popped and that was the end of that. Upon opening my PC the PSU was hot to the touch (like burn your hand hot) yet the CPU heatsink remained relatively cool considering the heat coming from the PSU. I waited and tried to turn my PC back on but it was dead. I ordered a new one from amazon and fitted it next day.
I've been playing on and off for a day now and it still runs hot while playing DirectX11 but no way near to the extent Vulkan did for me with the old PSU and no i'm not trying it again.
Not sure why it runs so hot and i would of expected my GPU to overheat not my PSU.
I'll keep doing tests but so far it's the only game to kill my PC in 10 years.
So far it's been worth it but holy crap if it dies again i may wait until they sort out settings for older machines.
Yea capping framrates at 60 seemed to really help. I dont see temps over 70 now.
It is also most likely a bios/mobo related issue. If your computer is that old then it is very likely so. (A 10 year old mobo and a 1050 TI is not really meant for this game, they WORK, but they are really pushing it. The CPU is actually the thing that probably fares the best in this rig for this game)
