Click Start (or WinKey-R), then type ""event viewer"" into the search box. In Windows 10, 'event' should bring up 'View event logs'. After starting the Event Viewer, expand 'Windows Logs' in the left column and select 'Application'. In the center column, look for a recent error for the game (maybe sort by Date and Time, or search for 'bg3') Lastly, check the information under the 'General' tab below the list of events, starting with ""Faulting application name..."".
Yeah, and considering how often I crash, it's kind of ridiculous how little BG3 actually shows up. I guess reason for that is the fact that it crashes my graphics card instead of crashing the game itself.
You would need to have a look at the temperature logs. Try to log the temperatures, because this kind of shutdown is usually do to overheating. Would be nice to know your enabled video settings.(Low, High medium) And what you allowed in the GPU-s application. Because i had similar issues in another game and for me it was Adrenaline allowing OC for both the CPU and the GPU, but on my end it was the CPU that forced the shutdowns.
A very easy method to check if you don't know how to log temps is after a shutdown place your hand behind the PSU, if it is blowing out very hot air, your comp is overheating.
I've also been checking the heat, and it doesn't spike for me, so that's another layer to this mystery.
Close steam and any other game launchers
Head to the install stop for boulders gate 3
Find the bin file locate the direct x .exe file make a short cut
Put that shortcut in the desktop do not launch anything just go in the shortcut properties makes sure its launching the app as as admin
this way the game loads up no steam in the background no laren launcher nothing its like the old dvd/cd days but with a cracked exe
Try that see what happens.
Things I've tried unsuccessfully, based on intuition and many similar forum posts:
I am at my wit's end.
Windows reports a LiveKernelEvent 141, hardware error. Another info source reports my GPU was removed, causing the crash.
My theory is that the issue is specifically related to certain GPUs, and it has to be pretty deep down for the issue to persist after all these different attempts.
I have actually experienced this issue in other games, but they were all rendered with DirectX12, so I assumed this was the issue. This made sense because using DX11 or Vulkan in the respective games where you had the option fixed the issue.
As we see now, DX11 or Vulkan makes no difference and I am out of ideas.
I also have doubts that Larian can fix this as it seems to be silicon-level.
I'm giving up on playing until I hear something conclusive. I wish you all the best of luck and I hope my post can help save some of you from going down the same maddening rabbit hole as me.
Just your usual VRAM issues. I would have expected that rolling back GPU drivers by one and using it alongside the game in hotfix2 version should work normal.
I have a 3070.
No overheating issue as I have limited the temp w/ MSI.
Running as Admin directly does not fix.

@Globemaster, did you use DDU to reinstall your driver?

Yes I did...
