Screen freeze (+ workaround)

I got more than 10 freezes within an hour, that made the game unplayable, it never unfroze if i just waited. I hear music and sound effects, and when i hover UI elements i hear sound effects but the game itself freezes. I used to restart the game whenever it happened, in some areas more than others, like the dank crypt. It was basically unplayable, until i found a workaround.

When i pressed [ALT]+[TAB] to move away from the game and come back, the game is unfrozen and can continue playing.

FYI, I was playing online with a friend.
