Find Doni quest is glitched.

Right before the siege on the grove, i'm sent on a quest to find Doni and make sure he is in the children's shelter. Upon finding him (standing outside of the hatch) he just grunts, there is no dialog option and after I return to the quest giver, I get no dialog options. When the siege starts the quest is failed.

Note: I did not do the harpie quest, which is probably the problem.

I did do the harpy quest but its still bugged, so I think it's a game issue not a failure to do specific quests first

unfinished content i believe... I've done it multiple ways now... the children quests are buggy in general.

hmm I thought finding doni was only a way to make sure one finds the children cavern. The children quest can be confusing since you can easly miss several parts from it and some are optional or time dependant meaning you don't get the option later in quest path only stumbled other those path while doing reruns and never was expecting so big dialog changes via classes either...

Seems to still be bugged in release version. I understand it´s a incredibly hard to trigger quest, but feels sad that it just... bugs out.

Mildly Frustrating, release and Find Doni just has him grunt. Did the Harpy Quest and have found the childrens hideout too before this.

Family, I am the same.
My process in the mission was the following:
1. I went to the beach and found the Harpies that were charming Mirkon.
2. Without engaging him in conversation, start combat and kill the Harpies.
3. Then when I approached Mirkon he started a conversation that told me to look for Doni.
4. As I approached the cave entrance, an investigation roll was made and I found it.
5. I walked into it and there was Doni, coming down the stairs to the left.
6. When I start a dialogue, he just grunts and has stayed that way.

Let's see if someone finds a solution.

This is not a bug. In the earlier dialogue surrounding Doni, you might have picked up that he is pretty non-verbal, thus the grunting. You'll have to get a little creative to get him to walk back to Rikka, the Tiefling woman who asked you to find him.

I used the Illusion cantrip to lead him up the hill, but there are probably many ways to do this.

Side note:
Along with being non-verbal, Doni generally shows other signs that have some players concluding he was written to be autistic. Some examples are that Doni avoids eye contact, and if you read his mind with Detect Thoughts, he complains about the bright grove. Did Larian include a quest to lure a small autistic child into a nearby cave with a kitty cat?

You have to speak with mol in the hideout i gave him 20g which started a new quest.

I had the same problem. After talking to Doni Rikka walks to the platform near Dammon's workshop. You have to wait for her to reach that platform where she will remain stationary and you can hand in the quest then.

Doesn't work.
Rikka is just walking in circles around one of the statues by where u meet Wyll.
Doni just grunts, Rikka just says "I need to find Doni!" I've gone back and forth 4 times. I went in the cave, spoke with Mol. Nothing. Mol is still miffed that I gave her the idol then stole it back from her.

Nothing is changing the situation.

Edit: After searching around online, I ended up doing as gamermanmatt mentioned above...sort of.

I didnt have a character with Minor Illusion, but my PC is a druid. So i shifted into a cat and lured Doni like that. It did work, can confirm.
