Summoned Lump during Dror Ragzlin fight. They leave initiative after one round.

I got the horn from Lump the Enlightened and I tried summoning the ogres during the Dror Ragzlin fight. My party is up in the rafters fighting at range. First of all, it doesn't always work. They sometimes just don't show up. But even when they do show up they leave initiative after one round and just hang around in the rafters with me, not fighting.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Maybe try it at ground level?
You just need the hornblower there, not the whole party

I did. They show up, but if the hornblower then goes up after the fight starts, they follow and drop out of initiative.
