Warped Headband of Intellect

I've tried several times to obtain this through killing Lump in Blighted Village, but the item never drops, which apparently it should do according to some vids on it.

Unfortunately I have already chosen my class and attribute points on the assumption the item would be available.

Given it isn't, is there any other alternative headband at some point later in the game which may be a half decent replacement?

Oh, so there will be an alternative way this can be located then? Currently I'm an Eldritch Knight but have the lowest attribute points assigned to intelligence.

try to hire them as mercenaries and use them in a tough battle where they will die. this is how I obtained it in my playthrough.

i didn't have any option to offer cash in mine when approaching them either, which seemed to be available previously looking at articles

I've also done the deception check route (the horn never appears available to use) and also a straight out attack.

there is a "specific route" in the dialog to make them work for you iirc. unfortunately I cannot remember it but I think it involves asking them what are they doing in these parts and then convincing them to work for you (also flattering lump for his eloquence) I think . they give you a horn which you will find in your inventory (it will have an orange outline) and you can sound it to call them.

Well was able to get to the point of paying 500 gold for Lump's services. I used the horn to call them, and then killed the group of goblins including Lump, but the item still doesn't drop.... any ideas?

are you using any mods? mods can affect the item tables.
i've never seen this item not drop from him. there has to be something wrong on your end, ive literally never seen this fail to drop. And I just outright kill him, or let him attack me, doesnt matter how he dies, when he dies, i get the item.

but, you probably dont want to have to redo your playthrough for one item, so what you can do is download the faerun utility mod from nexusmods, it adds a ring to the game, you go to the druid camp, buy the ring from the vendor, might take some long rests to make it spawn in the vendor item table.

then, with the ring, you can use it to spawn yourself a headband of intellect. you can spawn the 17 int version from lump or the other one thats 21 or 23 i forget which. just make sure to unequip the ring when you're done using it because that also gives you +20 to all your checks lol so you dont want to have it equipped.

just use the mod to spawn the headband. because if you killed lump, the item should've dropped, that isnt your fault, so it isnt cheating, its debugging, and thats what utility mods are for.

Cheers for this, na no mods at all...if it is supposed to drop, then that sounds like an alternative I'd be willing to use in that case.

Did check a bit further to see if anyone else had any issues, did see a couple of posts on rededit i think where they were having the same problem but it does seem a rarity so guess it must just be a bug of some sort if I should have received it.

How far into the game would the other one (assume its just the normal headband of intellect) appear and is there any particular method in having to grab that? I might try to continue to that point if its feasible as you're right i would prefer to carry on with this play through now.

But if that seems hard to get or not available I might at that point try to bring this one into play.

I had the same problem after defeating the Ogres. But it turns out that Lump will not drop all items if he is still alive (unconscious). After I gave him a deathblow, then he dropped three more items, including the headband.

sounds like op have non lethal blows activated.
