Gale randomly left the party during Act 3

Wondering if anyone could help me with this.

Nearing the end of Act 3 during my honored mode play through, I have killed Gortash, Orin, and just slain Ansur. I have been completing the last of my side quests and just tying up loose ends before finishing the game. However, as I was about to complete a long rest I dismissed Gale to switch him out with another party member. For some reason he ran out of camp and has yet to return. I have changed camp locations, exited and reentered the game, dismissed all companions, and taken a long rest as potential avenues of bringing him back. He has ran with gear critical to my success in the final battle and is himself a key part to my party synergy. I have completed his side quests as much as I can up to this point in addition to having an exceptional opinion of my character. He has given no indication as to why he would leave.

I believe I can complete the game without him, however I would really rather have him (and his equipment) beside my character in the last stretch of the game. If anyone has any theories or potential fixes to the situation, I would appreciate it!

You probably told him to go meet Mystra at the temple. He will be waiting there for you next to the statue of Mystra. Its nothing too difficult he just needs to talk to Mystra to decide what to do with the Crown of Karthus.

I have already done that unfortunately. I even checked to see if he was there or not.

For me he disapeared into the plane of Mistra and later came back, just dont remember how / when exactly.

He comes back right after you finish the conversation with Mystra on Gale. So there should be no downtime or delay.

As for the OP then i am not sure what is going on because as far as i know that is the only time when he will leave your camp. Do you play with any Mods? Perhaps a Mod is causing the issue.
