Finding "Us", the intellect devourer
(Spoiler alert)
Hey, everybody, I need some help figuring out what I did wrong.
At the end of the second act, entering the necrotic laboratory during the 'Attack on Moonrise Towers' mission, as soon as I saw the intellect devourer walking around I immediately thought of Us. At the beginning of the game I helped him, I kept him safe during the fight but after the crash of the nautloide I obviously lost track of it. When I reviewed his peers, I thought I could meet him again, so I went and looked for information in the forums. The answer was that yes, I would have to see him inside the cage in the Bugbear Chop room, and releasing him could become a companion... but the cage was empty. Why? What did I do wrong? I play bg3 on the console (ps5), but I wrote in the steam discussion because I didn’t know where else to ask. Can it be a bug only on the console?
Thanks in advance anyone who wants to answer me.

Iirc the conditions for US to be there are, you have to alter it when you first meet and it needs to survive the prologue.
So I assume that you did not alter it.

Alter it as in damage it on purpose?

You get the option to alter it after you removed it from the skull, this is what makes it different and why its in the cage in flayer colony.

So I should have chosen to mutilate him in order to have him as a companion? But poor Us, it’s a choice that makes no sense if you want him at your side

It does make sense when you stop to think what he is. You need to partially separate him from the "hive mind"

Untrue, you dont have to mutilate it in the prologue. It will be in the cage in the assault on the mind flayer colony if it survived the prologue, and recruitable if you freed it.

Mutilating it merely weakens its stats.

I did not mutilate US and still find him in the mind flayer colony! :)

It still has to survive the final battle in the nautiloid.

So why it didn't work for me? I don't have any ideas

If it dies during the final battle, of course you dont get to see it again.

No, that’s the point, at the end of the battle he was still fine. He wasn’t hurt once before the nautiloid crashed.
