First give the gnomes the hammer but tell them to wait.
Then jump down that creepy hole where this beast sound comes out from and after that you can make your way to the backside of the cells, break the wall and free the gnomes who then go and free the tieflings.
Leave the majority of your group near boat when you free the prisoners.
This has the advantage that you can kill the guards who would usually wait at the boat without having the prisoners run into them because they appear after you break the wall but your guys are already there waiting for them while the gnomes are busy freeing the tieflings.
