Recruiting Minsc - is Jaheira necessary?
So I'm going to try and recruit Minsc, but how necessary is it to have Jaheira in my party for that to successfully happen? The few guides I read seemed to insist that it's absolutely necessary (like for doing anything related to the Counting House and the battle with Minsc and gang in the Abandoned Cistern). BUT I've got that bug where Jaheira will not follow when she's in my party, and I don't want to just control her because, well, my character :>

For what it's worth, I did try the trick that some people have posted about (dismissing, Dominate Person, return to camp to recruit again) but both times I tried she just wasn't back in my camp again.

No, it isn't necessary to have Jaheira in your party to go through all three places you mentioned. Tried both ways myself, goes okay. You just need her to be at your camp to start the very quest line about finding Minsc. If she remains there, Tav just tells her about everything that has happened as soon as he/she can.
Jaheira's presence/absence just alter the dialogue lines slightly, and there'll be a bit more difficult Ability checks while getting the entrance to Counting House
The main point in successfully recruiting Minsc is not to kill him in the battle in the Cistern, just knock him out, and then convince the Emperor to calm down the ranger's tadpole.

Thank the gods. Hopefully she's also not necessary when talking to Nine Fingers.
