Voss' silver sword

In which moment is decided which weapon Voss have? I want to disarm him, but he always have great sword. I have save just before autosave point near Mountain pass

Sometimes he has crossbow instead of greatsword :)

he always carries the astral silver sword until you first disarm him/quest reward in actr 3, then he will have voss' silver sword on the following encounter/quest reward at act 3, u get 4 attempts in total i think, first when he's at the bridge in act 1 (only a disarm or command drop can work) best to not have lae zel in your group when u attempt this, because she will run ahead at the bridge and attacking voss will make her perma hostile, can get to him as soon as level 2/3, again before starting act 2 after you have done the Githyanki Cresh, and then i believe he will be in act 3 Inn, and then once more he confronts you/joins you as you'r about to end the game running to the last boss
