Will Owlbear cub return after failed heal?

I failed a medicine roll with the owlbear cub and it ran off and it hasn't come back ;-;
It happened a while ago and I finished exploring the area of the mountain pass and I'm now at the underdark, and now I'm worried the baby will never come back D:
Has anybody else had the cub come back after a failed heal??

I do not remember that I healed it. Normally the cup runs away because of a companion. And comes several long rests later, maybe not before act 2.
