The shield of devotion is a special shield you can get during act 2, it grants the user "+1 level 1 spell slot" the thing is: if you equip the shield, then equip another shield you will retain the +1 slot. this can let you "refill" your spell 1 slots. if you are playing a sorcerer you can then convert those level 1 spell slots into sorcerer points letting you gain infinite sorcerer points given you are willing to do that. Its not game breaking in any way, but it is probably not intentional.
